My name is Neus.

I am a writer and I work as a digital analyst.

I research the relation between visibility and talent. No matter your merits: if you are not visible, no one will hire you. I serve as a visibility consultant. Because I am a woman and baby boomer, I primarily work with professionals who were late to the Internet and with women, who remain invisible. As an author, I’m interested in the impact of technology on the new role of the writer.

I do not confuse fame with visibility. I do not believe that being visible is measured by your number of Twitter followers (that’s called counting sheep). I know I am in the minority camp. I also know that the majority position (who believe that the more sheep, the merrier) benefits technology companies. These are not NGOs but for-profit corporations. I want to contribute to the debate about the role of technology in society.

Formally, I hold degrees in Translation and in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Masters in International Politics at the Johns Hopkins University.

I have served as Director of International Relations for the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and as Executive manager of Intercampus, a Pan American academic program funded by the Spanish Foreign Affairs Ministry. I cut my teeth in Marketing working on campaigns to promote Barcelona as a destination city. I have also served as international observer for the OSCE in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

In 2000, I founded Manfatta, a digital marketing company, which has been listed as one of the 500 most innovative agencies in the world (2004). I teach in various postgraduate Communications programs and belong to the faculty of the School for Booksellers in Catalunya. I have been named one of the 35 most influential Spanish women on-line.

"A Man for Hire" by Neus Arqués

I have published five non-fiction titles, seven novels, and two audioseries. In my Marketing books I speak about visibility and in my novels I discuss stories that are not so easily seen. They are really two sides of the same coin. My first novel in English is A Man for Hire.

In a past life I would have liked to be a salonnière in 18th century Paris. La altra vida de NeusMaybe I was. Today I live in Barcelona and at www.neusarques.com.
